The designs explore the atmospheric power of light and darkness, borrowed space, layers of privacy, and materiality, to create two textured urban dwellings in Newtown. A challenge was to improve upon the conventional terrace house type and to work within two very narrow and long sites. Below is a (very tiny) preview into the often […]
We are designing an extension to a Pettit + Sevitt architecturally designed project home conceived of by Ken Woolley AM (who, by the way, critiqued Vesna Trobec’s work when she was a Masters student at Sydney University). When an architect designs modifications to another architects work, it takes place like a conversation. In this case, it is a non […]
We will publish images of the process here as we explore the spatial potential of the Sydney terrace house. Contributors to this process are Russell Rodrigo, Min W Dark, and Vesna Trobec.
The new roof will improve the existing home by bringing in healthier light and air-flow, re-working spatial hierarchies to improve them, and by extending the living spaces upwards for a growing family. These models are some very early experiments by Michelle.

Elizabeth Farrelly (architecture critic, columnist, author) wrote a compelling article in today’s Sydney Morning Herald on the Tiny House Movement, quoting “the enchanting tataMI house” for “nomadic and mobile futures” designed by Chris L Smith, Min W Dark, Langzi Chiu, and Vesna Trobec (STUDIO TROBEC). With the high cost of housing in Sydney and the tremendous capacity […]

TROBEC – CHIU have designed a new “house” for the Prime Minister of Australia.
