Pictured above is an image from the early Concept Design stage as the two design firms collaborate to re-think the existing interior spaces of a terrace house in Paddington. More updates on the design process coming soon.

The designs explore the atmospheric power of light and darkness, borrowed space, layers of privacy, and materiality, to create two textured urban dwellings in Newtown. We will publish images of the process here as we explore the spatial potential of the Sydney terrace house. Contributors to this process are Russell Rodrigo, Min W Dark, and Vesna Trobec.

The new roof will improve the existing home by bringing in healthier light and air-flow, re-working spatial hierarchies to improve them, and by extending the living spaces upwards for a growing family. These models are some very early experiments by Michelle.

STUDIO TROBEC have been commissioned to extend the existing house down-wards opening up new possibilities for how the family could interact with each other and the contoured gardens of their property. Images from the process (Sketch Design):

STUDIO TROBEC have been commissioned to transform an existing mixed-use podiatry practice and home in an eastern suburb of Sydney. With a 1m intervention and a few internal changes, what is now a 1 bedroom house will become home to a growing family and business. Watch this space for updates on the design process.
